EDIT: 6th and Market will not be a major stop on the route, so instead of setting up the cheer tent we have decided that RUN215 will be joining the run!!! We encourage everyone to run with us!
In the age of Facebook rants and armchair activism, 4 incredible women are using running as a massive tool for social change. Tomorrow, Alison Desir (@powderedfeet) of Harlem Run, along with 3 of her friends, are be embarking on a 240 Mile Relay from New York City to DC. Their goal? To raise $44,000 dollars for Planned Parenthood (as of right this second they've raised over $65k). The finish line will be The Women's March on Washington on January 21st in DC.
Each runner will be tackling north of 80 miles over the entire journey. As one might imagine, this will be an incredibly taxing endeavor. That's why we are directly calling on you, RUN215 Community, to support these women on their journey. SHOW. UP. AND. SUPPORT.
We (RUN215) will be on hand at 6th and Market on Thursday night (10pm) with our tent, water, music, and refreshments. There is a google spreadsheet with route time estimates and locations if you want to join a leg of the run.
Here's RUN215's Commitment: If you're running, show up to 6th and Market. Then, donate the cost of a 5k to their GoFundMe. We'll match $1 per runner (up to $400) that shows up to run and donates (Log your entries here). Let's do this. We support the #PlannedParenthood and these incredible women running to make a TRUE change. #powerfour #4WomenForAllWomen
