Last Sunday, Septa Police Officer Gary Miller was severely injured by a hit-and-run vehicle. Officer Miller sustained a concussion, broken legs, and more, and will need multiple surgeries. What does this have to do with us? Not only does Officer Miller serve and protect, but he’s a fellow runner. So here’s where you come in:
We will be collecting “get well soon” cards at ALL Philadelphia Runner Locations from now through Sunday 5/29 at Noon. We will then do a group run to the hospital to surprise Officer Miller with cards, flowers, and a brand spankin’ new pair of running shoes to get that spirit lifted.
Monetary Donations will be accepted on behalf of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
So once again:
- Write Officer Miller a get well soon card
- Drop them off at ANY Philadelphia Runner Location through Sunday at Noon.
- Monetary donations will be accepted on behalf of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as well (donation bins will be set up)
- We're gonna run the flowers, cards, donations, and a new pair of shoes and surprise Officer Miller on SUNDAY 5/29 (STARTING LOCATION AND TIME WILL BE POSTED HERE AND ON THE FACEBOOK EVENT PAGE)
GET WRITING!!! SHARE SHARE SHARE! SPREAD THE WORD! (AND TRY NOT TO LET OFFICER MILLER FIND OUT, CAUSE WE'RE GONNA TRY AND SURPRISE HIM)
**If you can't make it to a Philadelphia Runner location before Sunday, bring the cards with you! We'll be collecting them at the start (TBA) as well!**
