Welcome to RUN215 Race Picks! Every Thursday we'll be searching through the HUNDREDS of races in our area to highlight one that we're totally psyched about. This week we'll be shining a light on The Meredith 5k!
Looking for a SUPER local, old-school race experience that directly supports Philadelphia Public Education? PERFECT! Check out The Meredith 5k on Sunday, October 16th in Queen Village!
Date: Sunday October 16, 2016
Time:8:30am (Kid's Fun Run at 8:15am)
Why it is awesome: These guys are taking it "old school," before races were sold by the amount of swag in your bag. This race is all about the love of running. 100% volunteer based, you'll be hitting a 3.1 mile loop through beautiful Queen Village along with 300 other smiling faces. There's also a kid's Fun Run right before the race, as well as a post-run festival with face painting, games, music and more! As if that wasn't enough, the school will be providing FREE childcare during the 5k so you can get your sweat on! Oh, and it's $35 bucks, which is pretty darn cheap these days.
Basically, for $35 you get to burn some calories, get your morning run, and support Philadelphia public schools all before your favorite brunch spot opens. #WIN

This one's for the procrastinators. The dawdlers. The slow-starters. The "it can wait 'till tomorrow" crowd. Your friends bugged you for weeks. You told them you were all trained up. You said you just had to register. You didn't. Now they're running a fun race and you're left bib-less. Well, my friend, I'm just like you. After a brutally hot summer my running hit a major slump, as did my yearning to run a race. Alas, the itch returned, so I went searching.
As it turns out, there's a whole bunch of great races in September that you can still run! Here's a few of my faves...
